Throughout my practicum it became evident to me that relationship building was a key component to student success, but I was unsure of the specific benefits students would gain, the strength of the impact positive benefits could have, who relationships would most benefit, and how it could be done. Through this inquiry I have acquainted myself with the range of positive benefits students gain from an educator like myself actively seeking to develop a positive relationship with them. I walk away from this experience now knowing the exact positive benefits that can result from identified behaviors I can enact. This will be invaluable as I move forward into the teaching profession. The act of relationship cultivating is one that can easily be incorporated into the daily routine of the classroom as well as extend beyond the boundaries of the room to include interactions that happen in the hallways, in clubs or school sanctioned events.
