A habitually disorganized student made a point of calling the teacher over during class time to show that they had cleaned their school binder and backpack. They included in their explanation that conversations with the teacher about their messy binder influenced their decision. This action demonstrates that the student has formed a connection with the teacher because the student wanted to show off their achievement and responded positively when they were praised for their action. The positive benefit was that the student took a step forward in their organizational skills that are necessary for success. Prior to this disorganization was a factor in impeding the students success in the classroom. While the action of cleaning a binder and backpack were small, they had the short term consequence of the student being able to find their homework and thus not loose it before it was due to hand in.
